First ever Māori children’s takiwātanga book launch
We are proud to present the first-ever Māori children's book on takiwātanga, fully bilingual in English and te reo Māori!
This book is a unique and powerful tool for whānau, tamariki, and professionals, offering an accessible, culturally resonant approach to understanding autism through the lens of te ao Māori. Written entirely in te reo Māori, it also includes an English version, ensuring that it’s accessible to a wide range of readers, while promoting the revitalisation of the Māori language.
This is one of our first steps towards creating resources that reflect the rich cultural heritage of our Māoritanga, while supporting the diverse needs of tamariki with autism.

Wānanga Tuatahi - Waikato
Kanorau Takiwātanga Wānanga - Waikato
“Kei wētehi, kei wētehi anō he rerekē, he kanorau tōnā ake āhua, tōnā ake mana, tōnā ake mauri.
Each and everyone has their own uniqueness, life essence and presence”
Kanorau Takiwātanga Consultants will hold the first of a series of wānanga in Waikato for taonga takiwātanga whānau, health practitioners and education specialists.
This wānanga aims to create a positive and nurturing environment for people to express their special abilities, to empower whanau and professionals to change the deficit narrative that surrounds ‘disability’ and to raise awareness on inclusive practices to accept diversity.
The series of wānanga are part of our mission to empower whānau and educating professionals about Takiwātanga throughout Waikato.
For those whānau and professionals interested in attending the wānanga, please follow the link and provide all relevant information.
